What is the difference between FSSAI/ FOSCOS/ Food License?
There is not difference between the FSSAI/ FOSCOS/ Food License. Food Safety Compliance System (FOSCOS) is the new system which is launched by the FSSAI department to obtain or apply for the FSSAI License in India.
What are the types of FSSAI License or FOSCOS License?
There are 03 types of Food Safety Licenses and they are based on the total annual sales/ turnover of the business. Kindly check them below.
Basic FSSAI Certificate/ License: If annual sales/turnover is less than the 12 Lacs.
State FSSAI Certificate/ License: If annual sales/turnover is between 12 Lakh to 20 Crores.
Central FSSAI Certificate/ License: If annual sales/turnover is more than the 20 Crores.
What is the validity of Food License?
You can apply for FSSAI License upto a maximum period of 05 years. You need to renew it after 05 years. You can get Food License from 01 to 05 years.
Can you make changes in your FSSAI License?
Yes, you can make changes to your Food and Safety Certificate. For making any changes you need to apply for the modification of FSSAI License by paying the fee for one year.
What type of FSSAI License I need if I am planning for Import-Export business related to food?
If you want to start the import export business of food then you need to apply only for the Central FSSAI Certificate. You can't opt for the Basic or State license in the case of import-export.
